I. Overview
In November 2015, the National Development and Reform Commission issued a guide on the development of charging facilities, proposing that the number of electric vehicles in China will reach 5 million at the end of the “13th Five-Year Plan”, the number of new electric piles will reach 4.8 million, and the new charging station will reach the target of 12,000. It is the consensus of all parties that the pile industry will usher in explosive development.
With the in-depth development of the smart grid user terminal for many years, our company has introduced a product application program for electrical safety and energy metering for electric vehicle charging stations.

Second, charging pile and distribution system
The charging pile is mainly composed of a pile body, a metering module and an electric module, and the basic structure is similar to a low-voltage power distribution cabinet. Charging piles are mainly divided into AC charging piles and DC charging piles.
Due to the load characteristics of the charging pile and its safety performance requirements, in addition to the basic energy metering requirements, the power distribution system often needs to be equipped with a power quality monitoring device and an electrical fire monitoring device.

Third, AC charging pile product program
The AC charging pile generally has a power of about 7 kW. The total incoming line is equipped with a power quality analyzer to monitor the power quality of the entire charging pile power supply loop. The incoming circuit also sets the electrical fire monitoring device, the charging management controller, and is responsible for charging and charging control; the single-phase rail type AC energy meter is used for charging energy metering, and the energy data is read by the charging management controller through the RS485 communication port; The line side is equipped with a leakage protection circuit breaker; the charging side is equipped with a miniature circuit breaker or an AC contactor.

Fourth, DC charging pile product program
The DC charging pile is connected to the AC power grid, and can provide a DC power supply device for the non-vehicle electric vehicle power battery. The input voltage of the DC charging pile adopts three-phase four-wire AC380V±15%, the frequency is 50Hz, and the output is adjustable DC power, which directly charges the power battery of the electric vehicle.
According to the output power, DC charging piles can be divided into small DC charging piles and large DC charging piles. Two charging pile schemes are introduced below.
Ø Small DC charging pile
The small DC charging pile generally has a power of about 12 kW. The total incoming line is equipped with a power quality analyzer to monitor the power quality of the entire charging pile power supply loop. The incoming circuit also sets up an electrical fire monitoring device and accesses the fire monitoring back-end system. The charging circuit uses three-phase power supply, and its incoming line is equipped with a miniature circuit breaker with leakage protection. The charge management controller is responsible for the external human-machine interface, charging control, reading the electric energy data of the DC electric energy meter, and controlling the opening and closing of the DC charging output circuit breaker. The embedded DC energy meter is equipped with an external Hall sensor or shunt to measure the charging energy. Hall has higher installation convenience and electrical safety performance than its non-contact measurement and shunt.

Ø Large DC charging pile
The large electric bus DC charging pile has a large power, about 200kW, and the total incoming line is equipped with a power quality analyzer to monitor the power quality of the entire charging pile power supply loop. At the same time, an electrical fire monitoring device is set up, the charging circuit adopts three-phase power supply, and the incoming line adopts an AC molded case circuit breaker. The three-phase main circuit is configured with a residual current relay that provides indirect contact with electric shock protection. Since such a charging pile consumes a large amount of power, it is recommended to configure a rail type electric energy meter for measuring total electric energy in its three-phase alternating current loop, and to monitor the operating efficiency of the entire charging station in conjunction with a direct current electric energy meter. The charge management controller is responsible for the external human-machine interface, charging control, reading the electric energy data of the DC electric energy meter, and controlling the opening and closing of the DC charging output circuit breaker.
